Richard Kramer March 4, 2026

Date of Funeral

March 6, 2026

Richard Kramer, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the age of 83.

Richard’s incredible journey began on Morton Street in Mattapan, where he grew up and attended Boston Public Schools, graduating in 1960. He went on to pursue a degree in architectural drafting at Franklin Institute

Richard began his professional career at Zayre’s.  He was hired by the Morse Shoe Company in Canton where he proudly designed the store layout for the Fayva Shoe brand. After more than 10 years in the corporate world, Richard followed his passion and trained as a watchmaker, ultimately bringing his family’s jewelry business from the Jewelers Building in Boston to downtown Canton. For over 40 years, Richard and his beloved wife Leslie worked side by side — Richard repairing everything from wristwatches to grandfather clocks, while Leslie tended to the retail jewelry. Together, they became true pillars of the Canton community.

Beyond his work, Richard cherished time with friends and family. He was a devoted poker player and, in later years, a passionate canasta player. He was also an avid traveler, embarking on exciting adventures throughout Europe and Israel, and making his yearly trips to Aruba — his true home away from home — where he enjoyed the beaches alongside his beloved wife and closest friends. He was deeply committed to his faith and community, serving for several years as Treasurer of Temple Beth Abraham, now B’nai Tikvah.

Richard is survived by his devoted children, Melissa Mayer and her husband Bill, and Ross Kramer and his wife Alla; his cherished grandchildren, Sam Mayer and Sabrina Mayer; and his loving sister, Rosalyn Miller, along with nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Leslie Kramer z’l, and his parents, Lillian and Louis Kramer z’l.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 1:30PM at Schlossberg Family’s Chapel on the Hill, 824 Washington Street, Canton, MA 02021. Interment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon, MA.

Shiva will be held at the home of Melissa and William Mayer immediately following the burial through 5:30PM, Saturday 6:30 – 8:30PM and continuing Sunday at the Orchard Cove Community Room, 1 Del Pond Drive, Canton, MA, 12:30 – 3:30PM.

In lieu of flowers, contributions honoring Richard’s memory may be made to Old Colony Hospice.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Kramer Family at this time. I valued the friendship with both Richard and Leslie (of blessed memory). We shared so many happy times together ; but especially Aruba. Richard LOVED his days on the beach, eating out at great restaurants and ending the evening with a little gambling at the slots; then topping the perfect day off with an ice cream. He was so proud of his family and you could always see the love in his eyes when he talked about them. Richard’s memory will be with me and everyone who kknew him. May he rest in peace and be reunited with his beloved Leslie and all those who have passed before him.
