Date of Funeral

June 4, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Susan Hirsh on May 27, 2026, at the age of 69. Susan, known affectionately as Sue, left this world surrounded by love, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her journey ended at a hospice center, where she was tenderly cared for in her final days. Born on April 27, 1957, in Boston, MA, Sue was the cherished daughter of the late Arthur I. Hirsh and Deborah A. Hirsh, lovingly known as Arnie and Debbie. She grew up in a home filled with warmth and compassion, values that she carried with her throughout her life.

Sue’s educational journey began at Sharon High School, where she graduated in 1975. She furthered her education at Fitchburg State College, earning her degree in 1979 to fulfill her life long passion for teaching, a career she pursued with dedication and heart as a Special Education teacher. Sue’s commitment to her students was unmatched, and she touched the lives of countless children, nurturing their potential with patience and love.

Outside of her professional life, Sue loved to travel with friends and took every opportunity to explore new places and cultures, always returning with stories and memories that she eagerly shared with her friends. Her travels were not just about seeing new sights but about connecting with people from all walks of life, a testament to her warm and caring nature. Sue had an incredible ability to make friends wherever she went, her genuine kindness resonating with everyone she met. To know Sue was to truly love her.

Sue is survived by her brother, Gary, his wife Kathleen and their daughter Sarah as well as numerous cousins and lifelong friends.

A celebration of Sue’s life will be held on June 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Schlossberg Chapel, located at 824 Washington Street, Canton, MA. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor a life well-lived, a life that brought joy and light to so many. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sue’s memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, an organization close to her heart, at cancer.org . Sue’s life was a testament to the power of kindness, the importance of education, and the beauty of human connection.

Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, forever loved and remembered.
