Stanley Sorgman of Canton, formerly of Brockton and Boynton Beach, FL, passed away peacefully with family by his side on October 6, 2021.

Stanley was born on March 29, 1929. He was the second of four children, to his parents David and Lillian Sorgman. He was born and raised in Brockton, where he spent the majority of his life. At 15, he began working at White’s Delicatessen, eventually bought the business, and ran it for many years. After serving in the Army in Korea, Stanley returned home and married Elinor Schwartz of Quincy, MA. They lived in Brockton until retiring to Boynton Beach, Florida in 1998. There, they enjoyed many happy years together.

Stanley had a kind heart, a great sense of humor, and the ability to make friends anywhere. He was a talented woodworker, loved cooking, playing cards, and spending time with family.

Stanley is predeceased by his wife Elinor, who passed away in 2012, his son Jay who passed away in 2020, and his son Mark who passed away in 1959. Stanley is survived by his son David Sorgman and wife Lisa of Canton, MA, son-in-law Anthony Wilson of Providence, RI, grandchildren Tyler and Katie Sorgman, Partner Joan Schwartz of Canton MA, and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Schlossberg Family’s Chapel on the Hill, 824 Washington St., Canton, MA on Sunday, October 10th at 11:00 AM with burial to follow at the Pride of Brockton Cemetery in Stoughton.

In lieu of Flowers, the family asks that donations in Stanley’s memory be made to the Jimmy Fund at The Dana Farber Cancer Institute, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.

    I was fortunate to work at White’s Deli as a dishwasher under Mr. Sorgman during my high school years. May he Rest in Peace. Great person to work for.
