It is with deep love and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Sherwin Snyder, a longtime Stoughton resident, on April 30, 2026 at the age of 88. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.
Sherwin is survived by his wife Shirley (Levy) Snyder of 64 years, his daughter Jill (Snyder) O’Loughlin and her husband Daniel O’Loughlin of Norwell, and his son Richard Snyder and is wife Susan (Lefkowitz) Snyder of Brookline. He was pre-deceased by his son Bruce Snyder of Plymouth. Sherwin was also grandfather to three amazing grandchildren Tom O’Loughlin, Alana O’Loughlin and Emily Snyder who were the icing on his cake. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
He was born on August 17, 1937, to the late Sadie (Sally) Snyder and Abraham (Bremi) Snyder in Boston, Massachusetts. He was predeceased by his sister Barbara (Louis) Winokur and his brother Harry (Ethel) Snyder. He grew up with many cousins, aunts and uncles. As an adult he loved to recount the stories of his family to ensure their history remained known and vibrant.
As a master plumber he would work on large buildings as well as home repairs. He could always be counted on to help a family member or friend who needed work done. For many years he worked together with his son Bruce thereby passing on the tradition.
Sherwin was an avid collector of antique cars and trucks. He enjoyed attending truck shows in his 1932 Chevy Pickup Truck and his 1938 Chevy Dump Truck with Shirley and his good friends from the Nutmeg Antique Truck Club. One of his highlights with the trucks was when he obtained a cameo role in the Brinks Job movie in 1978.
