Ruby Etta (Bren) DeBrave, a longtime Randolph resident, passed away on Thursday morning, November 27th, at 89 years of age. Born in Boston, she was the only child of the late David and Mary (Golod) Bren.
Ruby grew up in Roxbury and met the love of her life, Alfred (Al) DeBrave, at a temple dance in Brookline, soon after which they were married when Ruby was 18 years old. Ruby and Al made their home in Mattapan, and then moved to Randolph, where they raised their family, welcoming five children and going on to enjoy a loving and cherished 56 year-long marriage.
They were longtime members of Temple Beth Am in Randolph and deeply enjoyed time spent with friends and family, including weekly nights out dancing together. Ruby enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and considered them the light of her life.
For 56 years, Ruby was the beloved wife of Alfred DeBrave. She was the loving mother of Robert DeBrave, Joyce & her husband David Petersile, Linda & her husband Richard Hill, M.D., Phyllis & her husband Mark Heatley, and Sherri & her husband Major Jackson Macomber Jr. (US Army, Ret.).
Ruby was the cherished grandmother of Matthew Petersile, M.D. & his wife Aubrey, Marissa & her husband Keith Glassbrook, David & his wife Vivian Hill, Jeremy & his wife Emma Hill, Kaylee Hill, Michael Hill, Christopher Heatley, and Jackson Macomber. She was the proud great-grandmother of Kaiden and Evelyn Petersile and Theo Glassbrook.
Ruby’s funeral service will take place at Schlossberg Family’s Chapel on the Hill, 824 Washington Street, Canton on Monday, December 1st at 12:00 noon. Interment to follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon, MA.
