A Life Well Lived…

Lila Silver of Brockton, MA passed away peacefully at the age of 89 with her children by her side on September 19, 2020. She was born in Boston on July 1, 1931 to Russian immigrant parents – Gertrude and Louis Frank. Lila grew up in a loving household with her parents and brother Harold Frank, who passed away in 2013. She attended Boston Public Schools, including Roxbury Memorial High School.

Lila married Alan Silver in 1954. They lived in Brockton and spent joyous summers at their beach house in Hull with their family. She spent her time as a devoted mother, and worked part time at Bradlee’s Department Store.

Lila is survived by her ex-husband Alan Silver of Enfield CT; loving children – Linda Silver DiPietro and her husband Michael, Debra Silver Howe and her husband Rick, and Larry Silver. She is also survived by her grandchildren – Lindsey Howe Chinni and her husband Joe, Sarah Howe and her fiancée Zack, and Jared DiPietro, as well as, her wonderful great-grandson Miles Chinni.

Lila loved celebrating special occasions and holidays with family, and enjoyed partaking in good conversation, a good meal and lots of laughter. She was an avid reader who read multiple books at a time and enjoyed trips to the library.

Lila was very sociable, and while living at the Chatham West Apartments, she was a member of the “Chatham Chatters”, and enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with good friends.

During the last years of her life, Lila was a resident of the Bay Pointe Nursing Home in Brockton. The family would like to thank the staff for their wonderful service, and treating her with kindness these last four years.

Due to COVID-19, the service will be private for family and close friends only. Donations in Lila’s name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Road, Waltham, MA 02451 or the National MS Society, 101A First Avenue, Waltham, MA 02451 and will be greatly appreciated.
