Lester Levenbaum, age 90, of Norwood Massachusetts passed away peacefully on October 28 following a 2-year intense battle with cancer. 

 

He is survived by his wife, Merle Levenbaum (Norwood, MA). He is survived by his children Donna Rosen (Barry) of Sharon, MA, Ron Levenbaum (Sue) of Stow, MA, and Barry Levenbaum (Karen) of Cooper City, Florida.  He is grandpa to 8 adoring grandchildren, Scott Rosen (Leah) of Sharon, MA, Paul Rosen (Amanda) of Sharon, MA, Rebecca Todisco (Nick) of South Easton, MA, Erica Levenbaum (Liz) of Cincinnati, OH, Andrew Levenbaum (Kelly) of Rye, NH, Rachel Levenbaum of Cooper City, Florida, Jesse Levenbaum of Cooper City, Florida, and Steven Levenbaum of Cooper City, Florida. He is also a great-grandfather to 7 great-grandchildren.

 

Lester was born November 21, 1932. He attended Northeastern University where he received a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He then supported himself with multiple jobs and furthered his education earning a master’s degree in environmental engineering from Harvard University. He met his beautiful wife Merle and married on October 27, 1957. Lester was a proud father to his 3 children, Donna, Ron, and Barry. Lester captained his own boats and enjoyed fishing in Boston Harbor with anyone who would go with him. He loved to garden, dine out, and spend time with family and friends. He could be seen daily peddling his bike in his hometown of Needham heading for a coffee at McDonalds, where he became a regular. He was diligent in exercising and maintaining his health. 

 

Lester will always be known for his boisterous and contagious laugh. He was kind, caring, and believed in doing the right thing. He became a congregant of the Chabad in Needham, and appreciative of all his new religious home had to offer.

 

Services will be held Monday, October 30th at 2PM, at Schlossberg Family’s Chapel on the Hill, 824 Washington Street in Canton, with interment following at Sharon Memorial Park. Shiva will be held immediately following burial until 7PM, and continuing Tuesday 1-4PM at Norwood Gardens Apartments clubhouse, 105 Hampden Drive, Norwood, MA.

 

Donations may be made to Chabad Jewish Center, 472 High Rock Street, Needham, MA.
