PRESS, Harriet

Harriet (Snyder), of Canton, passed away peacefully September 16. She was a long-time resident of Sharon, but also lived in Stoughton and Canton, and spent many warm winters in Delray Beach, FL.

Harriet was a loving, dedicated wife for 68 years to Meyer (Manny) Press, who predeceased her. She was mother of Irvin (Marian) Press, Roger Press, and Wendy (Ronald) Czik; beloved grandmother of Stephen and Andrew (Kathleen McNally) Press, Jennifer (Shawn) Fedele, Tracey (Shaun) Gardner, Shoshana (Kevin) Edelson, and Joshua Czik. She was blessed to enjoy great grandchildren Callie, Ella, Aviva and Liam. She treasured her relationship with her brother, Robert Snyder (Sylvia).

Harriet was born to Irving and Sylvia Snyder and raised in Boston. Her father passed away during the line of police duty when she was only 11. She married Manny and raised her children in Sharon during their youth, later building a career as an administrative assistant for Boston-area companies.

Singing and music were a passion of Harriet’s, one she shared with Manny. She participated in successful local Sweet Adeline and Harmonette choruses and quartets. She was also a very talented seamstress and knitter, particularly sewing a number of gowns for formal family events.

So sorry to hear about Harriet”s passing. We were Florida friends. Harriet and Manny and my husband Joel and I spent a lot of time together in Florida, as we lived in the same condo development. We had some great years together. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. I hope that your fond memories will help to comfort you at this time. Sincerely, Pearl Camiel
