Edwin Freedman February 6, 2023

Date of Funeral

February 8, 2023

Edwin Freedman passed on February 6, 2023, in his 90th year, in his favorite recliner, peacefully while he napped. It was exactly as he planned. He was born in a snowstorm in his kitchen in the Beachmont section of Revere, on December 15, 1933, the son of the late Julius and Rebecca Freedman. He was the baby brother of Charlotte, Bernard and Grace, who were both siblings and friends throughout their lives. He was the husband of Ruth (Taylor) Freedman with whom he had 42 years of adventures before her untimely death. He was the proudest father of  his daughter Jacalyn Fallman and her husband Michael and the late Eric Freedman He was a proud Papa to Jordan, Hannah, Julia and Sam. He was a revered uncle who held the role of patriarch with honor, and he adored that position.  And he was a best friend and mentor to Peter Bramberg. One never had to wonder what Edwin was thinking – he was happy to share his thoughts and opinions, as well as his infinite knowledge and wisdom about so many topics. People flocked to him to help solve their problems, large and small. He was a renaissance man in many ways. Technology and a quickly evolving world only made him more adept at staying current. He recently reprogramed the computer being left by a home health worker who couldn’t get the health monitoring software to work. He needed this so he could stay home where he fiercely wanted to be until his last day. He was a businessman, a lover of the ocean and his beloved boat the Lenore, and a guy who said every day that you can work hard to create your life, but you need luck. He never lost sight of how lucky he was and always made sure that we knew even our greatest accomplishments were only possible with the gift of luck. He literally couldn’t pass a stranger without stopping to talk. He often said that it is so easy to stop and connect with someone who just might need a chat. He is likely somewhere now, happily giving advice and chatting away. Burial will be private, and a celebration of his life will be held in June.
