Carol Ann Friedman. age 75, of Hingham, MA passed away peacefully at home on June 9, 2024.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Dennis Friedman, her son Joshua Friedman and his wife Ursula Truebswasser, grandchildren Felix and Mathilde Friedman, her daughter Juliet Rotenberg, Juliet’s husband Benjamin Rotenberg, and her brother David Feldman and his wife Dayle Feldman.
Raised in Saginaw, Michigan, Carol graduated with a B.A. in Social Work from Michigan State University. Living in Hingham for over 40 years, Carol loved the vibrant Jewish community of Boston’s South Shore. She was an active member of Congregation Sha’aray Shalom, where she grew a dear circle of friends. She was especially proud to be a Pomegranate donor of Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Boston, raising funds and volunteering throughout the Boston area. Passionate about education and lifelong learning, Carol was an avid student in many adult education classes with renowned rabbis and teachers. She also enjoyed teaching, working for several years as an interpretive Park Ranger leading tours through the Adams National Historical Site. She later taught English as a Second Language to Jewish immigrants and read stories to blind children through the Talking Information Center at WATD in Marshfield. Above all, Carol was a devoted wife and beloved mother. She most loved spending time with her family, in Hingham and traveling together all over the world, including England, France, Italy, Austria, Turkey, Tajikistan, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, and Thailand.
Carol’s funeral service will be held at 1:30PM, Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Congregation Sha’aray Shalom, 1112 Main Street in Hingham, with the interment to follow at Lindwood Memorial Park, 490 North Street, Randolph.
Shiva will be held at Congregation Sha’aray Shalom, 1112 Main Street in Hingham on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 7PM.
