Allen Miller, 90 of Winthrop passed peacefully in his sleep, at home, on June 9, 2023. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Allen is survived by his wife of 66 years, Davida, his son Mark and his wife Miyuki Tachibana, granddaughter Sophie, daughter Karen, and her life-partner Deb Shufrin.
Born in 1933 to Louis and Katherine Miller, Allen and his late brother Eddie, lived their early years in Winthrop, MA, and later moved to Brookline, where Allen graduated from Brookline high, before attending Northeastern University. He enlisted in the Army serving his country in Japan.
Allen spent a lifetime devoted to charity and Jewish life including decades as an active member of B’nai B’rith and a youth mentor in AZA. After many years in the fur business, Allen opened his own business, often working seven days a week. He created a loyal following of clients over 40 years, and he continued coming into the office until a few weeks before his passing.
A proud man of few words, Allen was loved and respected by friends and family, and he will be missed forever.
A graveside service will be held at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon on Friday, June 16th at 10:45AM. Please meet behind the administration building. Memorial Observance will take place at the home of Karen Miller and Deb Shufrin, Friday 1-8PM.
