Dr Alan Chyten , 87, or as he’s fondly known as “Gigi” of Sudbury , MA and Boca Raton, FL lost his brave battle with pancreatic cancer on Thursday, October 9, 2025. He passed away surrounded by his family in his Sudbury home.
He leaves behind his 3 children Kimberly Pilavin, (Chris), David Chyten (Carla) and Jonathan Chyten ( Marina) and his five grandchildren Stephanie, Matthew, Julia , Nicholas and Gabrielle.
He was predeceased by his beautiful wife Judith in 2017.
Alan was born on September 19, 1938 in Boston , MA . He grew up on the bottom floor of a triple decker home in Mattapan with 3 much older brothers (Howard, Edwin and Norman ) and his parents (Elizabeth and William). He described his childhood as fun with so many kids hanging out and playing games outside. In 4th grade he became a quiz kid competing in trivia competitions on the radio.
Always an entrepreneur, Alan started his own vending machine company and used to ride around filling his machines to make money.
He was a 1956 Latin High school graduate who then attended Brandeis University. From there he went to Tufts Dental and finally Tufts orthodontic school.
He met his wife Judie on a blind date when they were set up by their best friends who were dating. Alan and Judie were married in 1963, and he soon entered the Air Force as a dentist. Alan was a prominent orthodontist in both Randolph and then Framingham where he and Judie raised their 3 children.
Alan was an avid tennis player and played up until a few months before his death. Alan loved all sports and when he wasn’t working or on the tennis court , he was watching football, baseball, basketball, hockey or tennis on tv or in person with his many years of ticket subscriptions to all of the Boston teams.
Dr. Chyten was always valued for his strength and turned to for advice by his many friends and family members.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 12th at Schlossberg Family’s Chapel on the Hill, 824 Washington Street, Canton, MA at 1:00PM, followed by burial at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street in Sharon.
The family will be sitting shiva on Sunday immediately following the burial, continuing on Monday 3–7PM at the home of Jonathan Chyten in Lincoln, RI.
