of Sharon, formerly of Chestnut Hill, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2019 at the age of 99. Devoted son of the late Hyman & Bessie (Katz) Garte. Beloved husband of Shirley (Kolikof) Garte of 77 years. Beloved father of Maureen Garte of Sharon. Also father of Helaine Miller & husband Dennis of Needham. Cherished grandfather of Keith Garte & wife Julie, Cindy Miller, Jamey Altman & husband Steven and also grandfather to Matthew Miller & wife Jen, Amy Donaldson & husband William. Loving great grandfather to Drew, Bailey and Riley and also great grandfather to Katie, Greg, Aaron and Gabby. Dear brother of the late Gloria Litvin, Gilbert Garte and Florence Kelman. Sigmund proudly served as a WWII Veteran in the U.S. Army in 1945–1946 receiving the Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Army of Occupation Medal of Japan. Graveside Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham St., Sharon, MA on Thursday, June 27th at 10:45 AM.
