Paul Sowsy January 5, 2023

Date of Funeral

January 8, 2023

Paul Sowsy of Brockton, formerly of Chelsea, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2023, at 88 years of age. Devoted son of the late Henry & Lena (Cohen) Sowsy. Beloved husband of Sabina (Titelbaum) Sowsy. Loving father of Karen Sowsy, Michael Sowsy, and David Sowsy. Cherished grandfather of Justin LeFebvre and Courtney Sims, and Benjamin LeFebvre and Makayla (Harding) LeFebvre. Adored great-grandfather of Nathan LeFebvre and Lucas LeFebvre. Dear brother of the late Gerald Sowsy, and brother-in-law of Shirley (Hoffman) Sowsy and Myrna Titelbaum.

Paul graduated Chelsea High School, received his undergraduate degree at Boston University, and completed his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry at Tufts University. He also served as captain in the U.S. Air Force.

Paul was involved in many activities of his community and synagogue. He served as President of West Bridgewater Kiwanis and 2 terms as President of Temple Israel in Brockton.

Paul was an amateur radio operator, who provided communications for loved ones on different sides of the world and during the bicentennial Independence Day celebration in Boston.

Paul enjoyed traveling and taking cruises. His dream was to visit the Western Wall in Jerusalem, and he was able to do that in 2018.

Paul loved photography and taking pictures of his family was his greatest joy. In his dental office in East Bridgewater, his patients watched the family grow, as new pictures were added to the walls of his operatories. After retiring from dentistry, Paul was thrilled to have additional subjects to photograph when his great-grandchildren were born. Paul also served as Photographer for the Sharon Men’s Club.

Paul’s funeral service will be held at 1 pm, Sunday, January 8, 2023, at the Sharon Memorial Park Chapel, 40 Dedham Street in Sharon with the interment to follow.

Shiva will be held at the Sowsy family home in Brockton on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday evenings from 7 – 9 pm. Additional in-person calling hours will be on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 1 – 4 pm.

The Beautiful Family of Paul Sowsy,
I have had the honor and privilege of knowing this incredible family for nearly 30 years when my family joined Temple Israel in Brockton. I later taught in their religious school and came to know them through Ben and Justin, who are the ages of my own children. Karen is my dearest friend. Paul demonstrated a sense of pride in family as most patriarchs should. His love and devotion to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was tangible to all who had the honor of bearing witness. I, too, come from a line of love and faith and understand the magnitude of this loss. You, his family are a beautiful, ongoing legacy to this amazing man. May the memories of your husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather be a continued blessing to you all.
