Murray William Hurvitz (63) passed away on Friday, February 17, ~024. He was the definition of sweet, nurturing, kindness. A loving father, grandfather, brother, cousin and friend. He had a profound love of history, computers, sailing and cars, but nothing delighted him more than the joys and successes of his children and the birth of
his treasured grandson.
He was born in Boston on November 18, 1960, to Sylvia and Joseph Hurvitz (d.2019). He grew up in Wellesley, MA,
graduated from Wellesley High School ’80, graduated fromSyracuse University ’84 with a BS in Management
Information Systems from the Whitman School ofManagement then went on to raise his 3 children in
Needham, MA with ex-wife Marcie Akell following which he relocated to Lowell, MA and Nashua, NH.
Murray enjoyed a 30-year career with IBM, until recently joining Apple. He began his years at IBM creating innovative features in Lotus Notes that were ahead of the times. His forward thinking gave genesis to two software patents. Murray leayes his adored children, Jason Hurvitz(Jacqueline) and grandson Joseph of Pelham, NH, Samuel Hurvitz of Salt Lake City, UT and Annie Hurvitz of Nashua,NH. He also leaves his brother, Peter Hurvitz (Cynthia) of New Canaan, CT, his sister, Leslie Cohen (Mitchell) of BocaRaton, FL and Manhattan, NY, ·his loving nieces and nephews as well as many cousins and good friends. Murraywill be deeply missed.
A celebration of life will be held on March 1 at 2:00 pm at theSchlossberg-Solomon Memorial Chapel, 824 Washington St., Canton, MA, followed by a reception at Canton Town Club, 300 Bailey St., Canton, MA.
