BENJAMIN, Lorraine (nee Bernstein), of Canton, MA passed away after a short illness on January 20, 2024. She was the devoted wife of Alfred Benjamin for 74 incredible years, loving mother of Ross (Midge), Cary (Susan), and Evan (Kristen), grandmother of Amalie (Daniel), Hallie, Jessica (Christopher), Samuel (Brooke), Ari and Rose, and great grandmother of Elliott, Reid, Blake, Evangeline, and Cameron. Born 93 years ago in the West End to Frances Winn, she lived in Dorchester, Newton and Mashpee, MA, and in South Palm Beach, FL. She was predeceased by her sister Sylvia Lefton and brothers David and Morris Winn, and shared special relationships with her sister-in-law Micky Winn, nephew Steve Winn (Lesley), niece Sharon Quigley (Ken z”l), and cousin Paula Rosput Reynolds (Steve).
Lorraine worked for decades as a bookkeeper for the family business, but her lifetime passions were her prolific oil and acrylic painting, playing bridge and games with friends and family, and counterbalancing her on-the-go husband. She loved to travel, read, and discuss current events. She led an active social life wherever she landed, making friends and developing new interests. And she loved to be around her always growing family. Her impact will last through the generations, and she will be missed by all of us.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 23 at 10:00 am at the Chapel at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon with burial to follow. Shiva will be held at Orchard Cove, 1 Del Pond Drive, Canton, MA from noon to 3:00 pm and again from 5:00-9:00 pm on Tuesday.
