Leonard D. Sacon passed away on April 1, 2024 after a brief illness.

 

He was born in Boston, February 11, 1938, the son of Yetta and Nathan Sacon. He graduated from Boston Latin School, UMass Amherst with a degree in electrical engineering, and received a Master’s degree from Northeastern. He served in the Army during peace time. His career was in computer technology and management.

 

He was a resident of Sharon, Massachusetts for many years, a member of the town personnel board, and an active member of Temple Sinai before moving to The Willows at Worcester.

 

He enjoyed presiding over annual holiday celebrations, especially the Passover seder. Len cherished family gatherings on the back porch in Sharon and in Wallkill, NY and Hingham. He enjoyed photography and had a dark room in his Sharon basement where he developed his own black and white pictures. He also enjoyed New England nature, gardening and camping with family, and he was an avid fan of Boston sports teams. He was very proud of his Pan Mass Challenge ride at the age of 70,  raising money for cancer research.

 

He is survived by his wife of many years, Nancy, son Neal and his wife Maureen, daughter Deborah Sacon Maloof and her husband David, son Eric and his wife Sheryl, son Gary and his wife Helen, grandson Walker Sacon and his wife Diana, granddaughter Julia Maloof, and granddaughters, Lilly Etta Sacon, Haley Sacon and Ava Sacon all of whom he was very proud. Len is also survived by his sister-in-law Carol Sacon. He was predeceased by his first wife Julie (Bernstein) Sacon and brother Stanley Sacon. He is also survived by many relatives and friends.

 

Funeral services will be on Friday, April 5, at 10:00 a.m. at Temple Sinai in Sharon, with burial at Sharon Memorial Park after which the Shiva will be held at Temple Sinai. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jimmy Fund or the Pan Mass Challenge.
