Joseph Strazzulla, of Randolph, MA passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on May 30, 2026. Born April 11, 1948 to Frank and Vera Strazzulla, Joe grew up in Boston’s West End with his sister Anna Vega (Strazzulla). He attended Boston School for the Deaf, where he made lifelong friends. After high school, he attended North Bennett
Street Industrial School. He met his wife, Sandra Slavet while they were attending classes at Boston University. They were married on August 11, 1972 and started their family in Quincy, MA when Sandy adopted an Irish Setter puppy, Duffy for Joe’s birthday. Joe and Sandy moved to Randolph on January 1, 1974 to the home in which
they would live together for the next 52 years.
The house was a labor of love for Joe, and he quickly used his incredible talent to renovate spaces and add rooms, often working all day at his job as a furniture refinisher and coming home to work on the house for hours in the evenings and weekends. Joe and Sandy’s family expanded in 1977 with the birth of their first daughter, Jenna. Three more daughters-Lea, Carey, and Marie would follow, and Joe’s greatest pride and greatest accomplishment was being the world’s most wonderful Dad and raising his four daughters. Everyone who encountered Joe was struck by his kind smile, his willingness to give his time, talent and energy, his quiet love for his family, his gentle presence, and his impeccable work ethic.
In addition to having four daughters, Joe was blessed to have a close relationships with his four sons-in-law, Kevin, Brian, Allen, and Robbie.
In 2012, Joe’s greatest pride and accomplishment as a Dad was surpassed when he became a Papa for the first time and then five more times over the next four years. His love for his six grandchildren-Rowen, Shiloh, Grace, Abram, Jonah, and Jane was unwavering and unmatched as he and Sandy traveled all over to every grandchild’s birth, birthday, and countless and varied sporting events. Any important family milestone or celebration Joe was sure to be there.
Joe maintained a close relationship with his sister, Anna and with Sandy’s brother, Jerry. He was a loving uncle to his nephews, Jonathan, Michael and Daniel Vega and James, David and Andrew Slavet and their children.
Married for 53 years, Joe and Sandy loved each other through all of life’s seasons. He will be missed dearly and remembered in the hearts of all who loved him.
The family will have a private graveside service. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2026 at 1:00PM at Temple Sinai- Sharon, 25 Canton St., Sharon, MA.

June 1, 2026 at 4:58 pmI remember when one of my sons, working on his Eagle project to raise awareness about people with disabilities, invited Joe and the girls to a Boy Scout meeting to talk about living with a deaf person. The girls showed how to get his attention by jumping on the floor. Joe would feel the vibrations, and respond.

I am very sorry to hear of Joe’s passing. Joe was a great neighbor and friend. He had that smile that was not just a full face smile, but a whole person smile. He was kind and friendly. He was just a warm person who demonstrated impactful love for his family, and those that knew him. It was great to see him last year.
