Janice Dovner June 22, 1942 - June 17, 2025

Date of Funeral

June 23, 2025

Janice Dovner, of Bridgewater, MA, passed away on June 17, 2025, in East Bridgewater at the age of 82, after a long illness.

Born on June 22, 1942, in Boston, she was the beloved daughter of the late David and Alice (Litcofsky) Rosenblatt.

Jan was predeceased by her husband, Alvin Dovner. She was a devoted mother to her daughters, Cheryl Dovner of Taunton and Stacey Dovner (Shore) of East Bridgewater, and a cherished grandmother to Samuel Shore of Bridgewater. She is also survived by her sister, Marsha White of Brockton, and her nieces, Pamela White and Nicole White, along with many cousins and friends.

Jan grew up in Mattapan, MA, and loved spending time in Boston’s North End, Beacon Hill, and the Public Garden. She enjoyed shopping at Downtown Crossing and attending theater performances in both Boston and New York City with her mother and sister.

After marrying Alvin, she moved to Wareham, where they enjoyed the beach and camping before settling in Raynham to raise their family. Jan worked for many years as an Office Clerk at the Raynham Water Department and found joy as an “Avon lady”, with Stacey often helping her organize orders.

She had a creative side and enjoyed ceramics, macramé classes and scrapbooking with her family and friends. Jan loved planning birthday parties and family Chanukah celebrations and was known for surprising her daughters—and later her grandson—with thoughtful little gifts, just because. She loved cooking for the Jewish holidays, remembering recipes from her mom and Zadie, and always made meals with love.

Jan also enjoyed traveling on cruises and vacations to places like Washington, D.C., Disney World, Maine, and more with her sister and friends. A cat lover, she became especially attached to her last cat, Bailey. She also had a sweet tooth and loved chocolate, ice cream, and Chinese food—favorites she shared with her daughters.

A funeral service will be held at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon, on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 1:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Greene Cancer Center, Medical Oncology, 25 Libby Street, Brockton, MA.
