Gilbert I. Lipman of Pembroke, formerly of  Dorchester, MA, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2023 at the age of 93.

Devoted son of the late Hyman and Rose (Israel) Lipman. Beloved husband of the late Rhona (Krakofsky) Lipman. Loving father of Jayne Lipman of Pembroke and Susan Breite and her husband Harold of Greenfield. Cherished grandfather of Joshua Breite and wife Cyndi Breite of Melrose, MA and Jessica Breite and husband Drake Descant of Holyoke, MA.

Dear brother of the late Ida Silver and her late husband Morton Silver.

Gilbert (Gil) initially worked in Rhona’s (Ronni) grandfather’s cap making business and then worked as a cloth cutter and marker-man for women’s sportswear through his career. He moved to California with Ronni and subsequently to Florida where he continued to work as a cloth cutter until he retired. Gil worked for a Habilitation Center helping special needs individuals with their daily tasks. He also worked as a Security Guard part-time at an apartment complex. In 2005 Gil and Ronni moved to Massachusetts to live with their daughter Jayne.

Gil was an avid amateur photographer who enjoyed taking photos and movies of family events. He enjoyed reading about history and current events. In his early years he was a jogger and transitioned in to long distance cycling and joined the Charles River Wheelman Bike Association. In his later years he loved working out at the gym.

Gil was a Korean War veteran having served in the United States Army.

There will be a private small graveside service held at Congregation Chevra Shaas, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury, MA on Thursday, January 4th at 11AM.
