Gary R. Rachins July 9, 2023

Date of Funeral

July 12, 2023

Gary R. Rachins, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died unexpectedly at his home in Sharon on Sunday, July 9, 2023. He was 72 years old.

Born to the late Jack and Flora Rachins, Gary graduated from Brookline High School (1968) and Bentley College (1972). He was the brother of Meryl Marino (deceased).

He met his wife, Laurie (Schoen) Rachins in 1978, and they were married for 43 happy years. They had two wonderful sons, Gregory and his wife Jodi of North Andover and Zachary and his wife Brett of Needham and four grandchildren, Jack and Alice (Gregory & Jodi) and Jonah and Emmy (Zachary & Brett), whom he adored.

He retired as a hearing aid dispenser, having owned his own practice for many years. He was always willing to spend extra time with his patients; he truly loved what he did. Gary was passionate about golf, genealogy, and the Masons, just having earned a 50-year pin last month.

Funeral services will be held at Schlossberg Family’s Chapel on the Hill, 824 Washington Street, Canton on Wednesday July 12 at 1:00 PM. Interment to follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street in Sharon.

Following the burial, Shiva will be observed at his late residence from 3-8PM.

Gary was my big brother in our fraternity at Bentley and always one you could depend on at any time.
Many years after graduation he set up the brothers that graduated in the 70’s a day watching the men’s and women’s basketball teams play at Bentley and then dinner in Waltham. He was a very special man and will be missed. God bless you Gary.

Joyce and I were blessed to have had Gary as a friend . Laurie , one of the happiest days we had was when you and Gary told that you and Gary were buying a home in Florida in our development. We cherish the time we had together there. Steve sometimes drove Gary crazy when they disagreed on a topic, but it was more like two brothers who actually loved in other in the end . Rest in peace brother, we miss you but we will always cherish the time we had with yu

So sorry to hear about Gary’s passing. I was not aware until few days after arrangements. I knew Gary from Bentley as we were fraternity brothers. I was part of our yearly SGD basketball game and dinner at the Chateau in Waltham for many years. We have played golf together a number of times as well and he was my hearing aid specialist for over 15 years. Will miss your candid comments and sense of humor. Rest in peace my brother. 😥😥
