Elliott Hurvitz of Abington, born on June 29, 1941, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 82 years of age. He was the dedicated Rabbi at Temple Beth Shalom in Holbrook for 51 years. For 38 years, he was an esteemed elementary school teacher for  Saugus Public Schools. Elliott was the beloved husband and partner of Anita Silverstein Hurvitz. He was also the devoted son of the late Max and Rae (Shulkin). Hurvitz and was the loving brother of the late Joshua Hurvitz and his surviving wife, Leanne, the late Sally and Jerry Wagner and the late Marilyn Gidez. He was the special uncle of Paula and David Baram, Jonathan and Lena Wagner, and Michael and Laura Wagner.

A graveside funeral service for Elliott will be held on Monday, October 23, 2023 at Lindwood Memorial Park, 490 North Street, Randolph at 11AM. Shiva will be observed immediately after the burial at Temple Beth Shalom/Holbrook J.C.C., 85 Plymouth Street, Holbrook. Shiva will continue at the synagogue on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4-7PM.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Elliott’s memory may be made to Temple Beth Shalom/Holbrook J.C.C., 85 Plymouth Street, Holbrook. MA 02343.

    Rabbi Elliot was such a special man. I will always remember his kindness and compassion. I feel blessed he performed our wedding ceremony. His love and interest in our boys was so appreciated. May he rest in peace and his memory be a blessing to those who knew and loved him.

    My condolences to the family….I have known Elliot for a short time but he was the funniest man ever and the most peaceful…..you will be missed by all especially me( Ann)…..
