Marvin Barry Portnoy, 88, of Mashpee, Massachusetts, passed away at home on October 1, 2026, after a very brief battle with cancer, with his daughter, Kim, caring for him.
Barry was the son of David Samuel Portnoy and Faye (Richman) Portnoy and grew up in Mattapan, Massachusetts. He was an electrical engineer and most recently worked in quality control for Russelectric before retiring in 2009. That same year he moved from Needham to Mashpee.
He was predeceased by his wife, Myrna (Levine) Portnoy, in 2008. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Portnoy; his grandchildren, Dylan and Zoe Portnoy of Langley, BC; and his sister, Susan Portnoy McKinnon and her husband, William McKinnon.
Barry loved dancing and could often be found at Dino’s Pizza and Sports Bar, enjoying his favorite bands. He leaves behind many friends who will carry his memory in their hearts and treasure the many moments they shared with him.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 12th at 11:45AM at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon, MA 02067.
