Stanley Richard Maltz, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on July 30, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on April 1, 1944, Stan grew up in Mattapan and later moved to nearby Milton, where he attended high school.
Stan shared a lifelong bond with his brothers, Jason and Bob, speaking with them almost every day. In 1969, he unexpectedly started a flooring business from his home and went on to build it into a successful company before retiring at age 54.
For 60 years, Stan was the devoted husband of Carolyn Maltz. Together they built a family grounded in love, loyalty, generosity, and caring for others. He was predeceased by his cherished daughter, Jodi Fainer. He is survived by Carolyn; David and Freya; his grandchildren Zachary, Nathan, Maia, Kayla, and Adam; and his great-grandson Anderson, who was born shortly before Stan’s passing.
More than anything, Stan taught by example. He believed that kindness and generosity were meant to be lived, not simply spoken about. He found joy in helping others and in making people happy. Whether giving trips, cars, food, housing, clothing, cash, or simply lending a hand when it was needed most, Stan’s generosity touched countless lives. He never measured what he gave, only what it might mean to someone else.
His family also recognizes the extraordinary devotion of his wife, Carolyn, whose love and selflessness sustained him throughout their many years together. David often said he learned generosity from his father and selflessness from his mother, qualities that became the foundation of their family.
Stan’s memory lives on through the family he loved, the friends he cherished, and the many people whose lives were brighter because of him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
