Howard A. Rubenstein of Dedham, formerly of Atlanta, Georgia and Guilderland, New York, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease on April 15, 2024 at 89 years of age.
Devoted son of the late Barnet and Dorothy (Baum) Rubenstein. Married to Carole (Greenberg) Rubenstein of Atlanta, GA. Loving father of Gregg Rubenstein and his wife Bonnie of Sharon, MA and the late David Rubenstein and his wife Lauren Bumby of Greenwich, CT. Cherished grandfather of Danielle Rubenstein, Emily Rubenstein, Jacob Rubenstein and Grace Rubenstein. Dear brother of the late Bonita (Rubenstein) Pitcoff of Boca Raton, FL. Howard leaves behind his loving family along with many cousins and friends.
Howard grew up in Bronx, NY, graduated from City College of New York and New York University Law School. Howard served in multiple roles for the New York State government, including as the first Director of Labor Relations for the Unified Court System of New York. Howard also served in the Judge Advocate General Corp of the New York National Guard from which he retired with the rank of Brigadier General. Howard cherished the time he was able to spend with his family in his later years.
A small graveside service will be held at Montefiore Cemetery, Queens, NY on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 1:00PM. Shiva will be held at the Rubenstein family home in Sharon on Thursday and Sunday from 6-9 PM.
