Charlotte Ruth (Blank) Katz passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 6, 2022. Charlotte was predeceased by her parents Eli and Sadie (Skup) Blank and siblings Francis (Edward) Friedman, Jason Blank, and Leatrice (Morris) Chafetz. She is survived by her loving children Andrea (Dennis Hollingshead) Cohen, Jonathan (Amy) Katz, and Dayle (Jon) Lipsky; grandchildren Bradford (Erin) Cohen, Jennifer (Ryan) Clark, Stefani (Johnny) Perry, Samantha Katz, Zoe Katz, Alanna Lipsky and Chase Lipsky; great grandchildren Camden Cohen, Clara Clark and Benjamin Perry; sister-in-law Myra Blank; nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, neighbors and dear friends.
Charlotte was born in Boston, raised in Dorchester and Nantasket and became a long-term resident of Quincy. Her parents felt strongly that all of their children should value education and this is something Charlotte took to heart for herself and her children. She attended Girls’ Latin School in Boston and graduated with high honors with a triple major (English, Education and Music) from Tufts University. Charlotte’s professional career included fashion modeling, teaching elementary school and serving as a probation officer in the Quincy District Court. Judaism and community service were also fundamental to Charlotte. She was a long-standing member of Hadassah and Temple Beth El in Quincy.
Above all, Charlotte was an extraordinary mother, nana, super-nana, aunt, sister, and friend. She was fiercely independent, devoted to her family, an avid reader and knew her way around the kitchen. Although she was both proud and private, she never hesitated to share her thoughts with family and friends. She also had a strong sense of civic responsibility and never missed the opportunity to cast her vote. What gave Charlotte her greatest satisfaction in life was family. Getting to serve as the matriarch to multiple generations gave her enormous satisfaction and strength. There was simply no one stronger, more determined or more caring. Charlotte’s legacy will endure through her family and she will long be remembered.
