Yelizaveta (Lilia) Goltser September 14, 2024

Date of Funeral

September 17, 2024

Yelizaveta (Lilia) Goltser
Wife, Yiddishe Mama, grandmother, and a dear friend died on September
14, 2024 at the age of 79. Lilia was terminally ill, and she passed away
at her home in Newton, Massachusetts surrounded by her close family. She
is survived by her loving husband Vadim of Newton, her grateful son
Eugene of Canton, and her aspiring grandchildren, Benjamin and Asher of
Canton as well.

Lilia was born on August 11, 1945, in Moscow, Russia at the end of World
War II. She was raised in a Jewish family where, despite all the
difficulties and hardship of that time, doors were always open, laughter
was always heard, emotions were rarely hidden, and love was always at
the core. Their ‘home’, a tiny living space, was filled primarily with a
disproportionately large dining table. That table often carried more
dishes that it could hold and brought together significantly more
people than it allowed for. Lilia’s parents, Nikolay and Maria, loved to
host, they loved people, and their kindness was felt at hello. The apple
doesn’t fall far from the tree – Lilia too has lived for her family and
friends, and her spark, zest, and sense of humor have adorned many
dining tables, of course including her own.

Lilia came to the United States in 1992 at the age of 46. Fully aware of
the challenges of the immigration to a new country, she was mainly
seeking a better future for her only son, a future built around freedom
and fairness. She was very proud of her Jewish heritage and tradition,
and she has always had a strong bond and spiritual connection to her
deceased parents.

With a degree in applied math, she worked as an economist in the former
Soviet Union. In the USA she found her new calling as a travel agent.
Lilia traveled the world, read many books, she was often seen in art
museums and classical music concerts – all the activities she loved and
enjoyed, while always finding time to excel at her own kitchen.

Firey at times, quick to let go, never holding a grudge, always loving
and kind, Lilia will be remembered by the people whose lives she
touched. She will rest at Lindwood Memorial Park in Randolph,
Massachusetts, and this world will be a little sadder without her and
her smile.

Services are being held at Schlossberg Family’s Chapel on the Hill, 824 Washington Street Canton, MA 02021. Interment to follow at Lindwood Memorial Park. Memorial Observance will held at 12:15PM located at Amelia’s  217 Washington Street Stoughton, MA 02072.

Donations in Lilia’s memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute https://danafarber.jimmyfund.org/site/Donation2?df_id=2108
