West Palm Beach – Steven I. Young (80), passed away on September 13, 2024 with his family by his side. He lost a battle to cancer but proudly did not spend one day sick the other 79 years of his life. Steve was a native of Brookline, MA. and a resident of Palm Beach since 1978. He was an active, young-at-heart, fun-loving, careful and loyal family man who loved living a simple life.
Steve attended Brookline High School (’60) and University of Miami. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was proud to serve from 1966 -1968 as an aviation mechanic, stationed in Anchorage, Alaska. Upon return to Boston he fell in love and married Judy in 1972. They went on to build and sell real estate, travel the world, and “snow-birded” for many years from Boston to PB before finally settling in Palm Beach. He was always amazed with the evolution of the island and loved watching it grow and change. He was a true history buff and could fix anything and everything with his bare hands (including building a whole country house in Barre, MA) – a true renaissance man.
Steven was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 41 years, Judy and his brother, Larry Young. The family finds comfort in knowing he is reunited with his parents, his brother and the love of his life. He is survived by his daughters, Allison Myers and Lauren Young; son-in-law Bruce Myers; grandchildren, Max, Madison, Morgan and Stevie Jay Myers. His sister Valeri and husband Stanley Brock, Sister-in-law Sande Young, and many nieces and Nephews that he enjoyed very much over the years; Liz, Julie and Ben Young, Harrison, Aliza, Jessica, Noah and Blake Wills.
A funeral service to celebrate Steven’s beautiful life will be held on Wednesday, September 18th at 10:00am at Beth Israel Memorial Chapel; 11115 Jog Road, Boynton Beach, FL 33437. The family will sit shiva from 11:30 until 2:00 at the Indian Spring Country Club following the service; 11501 El Clair Ranch Road, Boynton Beach, FL 33437. A graveside burial service will be held in Sharon, MA at Sharon Memorial Park; 40 Dedham Street, Massachusetts 02067. Those in attendance will park behind the administration building.
The family wishes to thank all of those who provided support to Steve and the family during these last months, especially to his amazing aids Nelly Brown and Yanet Duarte, and of course the staff at Trustbridge/Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton.
