Sandra B. Hoffman (Weintraub) March 12, 1943 - February 9, 2022

Of Norton, formerly of Sharon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at the age of 78 after a courageous fight against a very aggressive cancer. Born on March 12, 1943, to Dorothy (Singer) and Allen Weintraub, Sandy grew up in Dorchester, and moved as a teenager with her parents to Brighton. She attended Girls’ Latin School, and then Boston University, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1964 and a Master’s degree in Education in 1966.

Sandy taught business education at Natick High School and at Massasoit Community College before starting an almost 30-year career in the Sharon School System, where she served as the chair of the Business Education Department at the high school. She is remembered fondly by many hundreds of former students as “Mrs. H.” for her dedication to their learning of shorthand, keyboarding, and computer skills, as well as her devotion to their well-being. She was named “Teacher of the Year” for Norfolk County in recognition of her exemplary interaction with her students.

As a long-time member of Temple Sinai of Sharon, Sandy served as president of the Sisterhood, as the Head Usher at High Holyday services, and in many other capacities. She was an active member of her group of graduates from Girls’ Latin School, and enjoyed their Zoom calls and meeting up with them in person.

A loyal Red Sox fan, she enjoyed going to Fenway Park, watching televised games, and attending those at spring training and during the regular season away from Boston. She loved to travel with her family; her favorite places were the Southwest, West Coast, Hawaii, and Italy. She found her trip to Israel to be especially inspiring and rewarding.

She is survived by her loving husband, Morton, of 56 years; their children: Linda and Mike Fernando, and Julie and Larry Gracer; four wonderful grandchildren: Olivia, Kyle, Sydney, and Zachary; her sister-in-law, Anne Hoffman; first cousins Gail Krumbholz and Ellen Russell; and many more cousins and other relatives. Considered by all as the glue that binds the family, Sandy is remembered for her beautiful smile, and her warm and caring nature. She will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Schlossberg Chapel, 824 Washington St., Canton, MA. Burial immediately following in Sharon Memorial Park. Shiva will be held at Temple Sinai, 25 Canton St., Sharon, MA, at 2-4 p.m. Masks will be required; no food or drinks will be allowed.
