Ruth (Cohen) Silverman, 98, passed away gently at her home in Framingham, MA on December 30, 2024. She was born to Russian immigrants Joseph and Elizabeth Cohen on December 6, 1926, in Somerville, MA.

Ruth was an avid reader, a supporter of the arts and local libraries, a volunteer at Stapleton Elementary School in Framingham, and enjoyed many years going to the Metropolitan Opera with her friend, Laura Stein. All who spent time with Ruth will mourn her passing into the night with happy memories of her life and times.

Ruth was predeceased by many friends and family, including her husband, Leon. Ruth and Leon married in 1954 and enjoyed many years together, raising a family and traveling to many places before Leon’s passing in 2012. Ruth’s sister, Irene Cohen, was 100 years old when she passed earlier this year.

Survivors include her sons Steven Silverman and his wife Lisa of Sandwich, MA, and Alan Silverman and his wife Diane Mercier of Framingham, MA; grandchildren Kristen (Silverman) Poulin and her husband Eric of Waterbury, VT, James Silverman of Stamford, CT, Torrey Luczynski of North Adams, MA and Joshua Luczynski of Adams, MA; great grandchildren Allison and Isabel Poulin of Waterbury, VT.

Ruth’s funeral service will be held at 1PM, Friday, January 3rd, 2025, at the Sharon Memorial Park Chapel, 40 Dedham Street in Sharon with the interment to follow. Those attending services should meet behind the administration building on the grounds of the cemetery prior to services.
