Rosalind (Gaynor) Applebaum, also known as “Roz”, from North Easton, formerly of Canton and Randolph was born on January 1, 1943 to the late David & Beatrice Gaynor of Bronx, NY. She grew up in Hull, MA and graduated with the class of 1960.
Roz spent her life as a full-time Bookkeeper, Constable, and proud Foster Mom. Formerly Member of the Constable Association, Rotary Club International, the Rotary Club, Past President of the Rotary Club of Canton, and Lifetime Member of Hadassah.
Roz passed away peacefully Friday night, May 13th, after a recent illness and a short stay in Hospice.
Roz was married on September 26, 1964, to her late husband, Robert “Bob” Applebaum of Dorchester, MA. They were together for 52 ½ years, until his death in March of 2017. They had two loving daughters which they raised in Randolph, MA. After their daughters had grown, Roz & Bob settled in Canton, MA and helped raise their granddaughter.
She is survived by her daughters, Michele Applebaum-Carter, of Franklin, MA and Susan (Applebaum) & Jim Farris of Canton, MA; her grandchildren Danielle Applebaum of Franklin, Cameron and Jordan Farris, of Canton. She is also survived by her brother Dr. Richard & Charlyne Gaynor of Cincinnati, OH and her sister Eleana & Herbert Charnitsky of Deerfield, FL; her nephews Mark & Brian of OH, Robert and Bruce of MA, Jesse Rudavsky of MA; and many loving cousins, foster children and friends.
Funeral arrangements are graveside at King Solomon Memorial Park 2690 Centre St., West Roxbury, MA 02132 on Tuesday, May 17th at 10am.
Followed by Shiva at the Chai Center of Canton, 576 Washington St., Canton, MA 02021 until 2pm. Further Shiva/Memorial observance held: Tuesday 4pm-8pm, Wednesday 10am-2pm and 4pm-8pm, and Thursday evening only 4pm-8pm at the home of Dawn Koufos (like another daughter) at River Oaks Condo, 358 Neponset St., Unit B, in Canton.
The family thanks the caregivers at both Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston and Seasons Hospice in Milton for such wonderful care to our mother and to us.
