Dr. Robert Jack Cohen, age 90, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2024, after a brief illness. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 10, 1934 to Kate and Irving Cohen.

Preceded in death by his loving wife Ann Onorato Cohen of Connecticut. Married in 1980, they lived many happy years in Ohio and Massachusetts.

Survived by children Mark Cohen (Jerrold Hyman), Amara Cohen (Dianne Wheeler), Robert Onorato (Dianne Onorato), Todd Onorato (Alisa Onorato), Connan Onorato (Pam Onorato), and grandchildren Nicole Onorato, Alyssa Onorato, Michael Onorato, Joseph Onorato, Sam Onorato, Thomas Onorato, Maeve Onorato, Finnoula Wheeler, and Ewan Wheeler.

Robert (Bob) attended Boston University and held a doctorate in Education and Psychology. He provided support to clients in schools, nonprofit organizations, and in private practice for over 50 years, of which he was very proud.

Everyone who knew Bob knew how much he enjoyed travel, art, and collecting objects from his journeys. He had a passion for creating art from unique objects in metal and wood. He also enjoyed architecture and designing spaces. He helped to design and build his first family home in Woburn, MA, which was featured in the Boston Globe. He also helped to design homes in Bedford, MA and Shaker Heights, OH. He was greatly inspired by the work of Frank Llyod Wright and had a passion for discussing and reading about design.

Another aspect of Bob’s life was living with Type 1 diabetes from an early age. He was dedicated to helping others manage this disease in his psychology practice. He was one of the oldest Americans living with Type 1 diabetes and took pride in living a full life despite the challenges. Bob was a unique individual who in many ways forged his own path in life and will be missed.
