RENA HURWITZ, a proud lifelong Brockton resident, passed away on Tuesday morning, July 30th, three weeks shy of her 100th birthday. Rena was the devoted daughter of the late Benjamin and Mollie (Rosenbloom) Hurwitz. She was the dear sister of the late Daniel, Henry, Paul and Samuel.  She is survived  by her many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Rena graduated from Brockton High School, Class of 1942. After High School she worked for the Tobe Deutschman Electronics Company until 1954. For the next 15 years, Rena was the Credit Manager for the Brockton Wholesale Beverage Company. From 1969 onward she was the bookkeeper for Bio Design in Stoughton and later for American Sterilizer in Canton. Rena volunteered at the Brockton VA Hospital playing piano and leading sing-a-longs,  she continued doing this at several nursing homes. She was an active and engaged member of Temple Beth Emunah and was among its earliest members.

Her funeral will be held at Schlossberg Family’s Chapel on the Hill, 824 Washington Street, Canton, on Thursday, August 1st at Noon. Interment will follow at the Agudas Achim Cemetery, Lancaster Street, off 1000 Pearl Street, Brockton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Temple Beth Emunah, 1179 Central Street, Stoughton, MA 02072.

    Met her at West Acres..We reminisced about Brockton.. great memory. Beautiful spirit. My mom and I also looked forward to her piano concerts.
