Minna Goldstein (Markovich) of Sharon Massachusetts, formerly of Israel, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, after a short illness on December 29, 2024. She was 82 at the time of passing.
Devoted daughter of the late Ezekiel and Genia Markovich. Beloved wife of Joel Goldstein. Loving mother of Barry (Melanie) Goldstein of Chesterfield, Missouri, Daniel (Jennifer) Goldstein of Oakton, Virginia, and Ronnie (Jessica) Goldstein of Sharon, Massachusetts. Cherished grandmother of five grandchildren. Dear sister of Dr. Zvi (Adina) Marom of Tel Aviv, Israel. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, and cousins both in Israel and Massachusetts.
Having been born in 1942, prior to the establishment of the State of Israel, she was considered a true pioneer. Minna first came to the Unites States in 1968, after having served in the IDF during the 1967 Six Day War. She first came to work as a nurse at Camp Ramah and then continued her work as a nurse for many years thereafter. She later attended Hebrew College where she earned her teaching certificate and taught Hebrew school for several years. Minna had many passions in life. She loved celebrating the Jewish Holidays and was her happiest when surrounded by family. She instilled a love of Judaism and the Hebrew language in all her children and grandchildren.
Minna discovered a passion for exploration and traveled far and wide both locally and internationally. She was an enthusiastic fan of all Boston sports. She frequently could be found watching games on tv and reveled in the many championships that ensued over the years. She also loved gardening and always had wonderful flowers and plants that were the envy of the neighborhood. Although she had spent over 50 years in the US, she visited Israel as much as she could and was a Zionist at her core. Nothing made her happier than being back in Eretz Yisrael.
Her funeral service will be held at 10AM, Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Temple Israel, 125 Pond Street in Sharon, MA, with the burial to follow at Sharon Memorial Park.
Shiva will be held on Sunday, January 5 immediately following the burial from approximately 12:30PM to 4:00PM, at Temple Israel at 125 Pond St, Sharon, MA.
Expressions of sympathy and remembrances may be made in Minna’s memory to the Jewish National Fund (https//www.jnf.org) or the Parkinson’s Foundation (https://www.parkinson.org). Email notifications may be sent to Barry Goldstein at [email protected]
