Michael Loeb April 25, 2025

Date of Funeral

April 29, 2025

Michael Loeb, of Sharon, MA,  passed away peacefully in his sleep and surrounded by family on Friday, April 25, 2025. He was 82 years old.

He is survived by Linda (nee Cohen), also of Sharon, MA; daughter, Eileen Loeb, of New York City; son, David Loeb, of Boca Raton, FL; son-in-law, Russell Shapiro; daughter-in-law, Shannon Loeb; and 4 beloved grandchildren: Jake, Ryan, and Drew Loeb, and Sasha Shapiro.

Born in 1942 in Barranquilla, Colombia, Michael was the son of Holocaust refugees, Erna Karniol from Austria and Herbert Loeb from Germany. He spent his childhood in Colombia in a tightly knit Jewish community of Holocaust refugees and survivors.

Michael attended boarding school at Cheshire Academy in Connecticut and went on to graduate from Boston University with a bachelor’s degree in business. He met his future wife, Linda, originally from Brookline, and they married in 1965.

After living in Colombia and Puerto Rico and working for multi-national companies in their sales’ divisions, Michael and Linda moved back to the Boston area to raise their family in Sharon.

Michael was a man of work and of family. A naturally hard worker, he started his own business, Michael Loeb & Associates. With his company spanning seven states and over three decades, Michael and his team were manufacturers’ representatives for gift, collectible, and novelty companies in the time before Amazon and the internet. He loved meeting with his customers; he had the gift of gab and could talk (in three languages!) with people from all walks of life. He never met a stranger.

Above all, Michael loved his family deeply. He was extremely proud of his children, and his grandchildren lit up his world like no one else could. He would do anything for them.

Michael also loved to travel, planning elaborate trips and returning with fantastic memories and stories. When he was younger, he played on the B.U. Soccer Team. He was a Class A tennis player, and he loved to reminisce about the doubles match he played with Arthur Ashe (they won). When he got older, he enjoyed participating in the arts: he loved to dance, listen to music, tour museums, and also to paint, which was a newly discovered talent.

Occasionally, in his later years, Michael would reflect on his life. He said that he felt lucky, that G-d had been good to him, and he had a very happy life. He would tell his family that each night before going to bed, he would pray to G-d for each family member in chronological order. His Judaism was important to him, and his love of Israel and of being Jewish has been passed onto the next generations. He will be deeply missed.
