Michael D. Bloom of Abington passed peacefully in his home, on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, surrounded by his family after a long fight with cancer. He was 71 years old. He was the beloved husband of Betty A. (Erwin) Bloom; loving father of Jennifer Fairclough and her husband William, and Jonathan Bloom. Michael was the devoted son of the late Robert and Charlotte (Hurvich) Bloom. He was the dear brother of Janis Savatsky and her husband Bruce of Texas, Harriet Bladuell and her husband Miguel of Florida, and the late Lesley Hohmann and her surviving husband, Richard. Loving Bumpa to Aidan Fairclough. Michael was a graduate of Braintree High School and Blue Hills Vocational Technical School. Mike spent many years working as a Computer Technician for multiple businesses in the Boston area, including many hospital IT departments. His most recent employment was as a Trade Show Associate for Teamsters for Local 25. Michael enjoyed talking to people around the world on his Single Side Band radio system, fishing off the coast of Massachusetts with good friends and family, racing Thunderbird sailboats, flea marketing, gardening, and spending time with family. A graveside funeral will be held at the Blue Hill Cemetery, 700 West Street, Braintree, MA on Friday, April 11, 2025 at 10:AM. Gather in front of the Administration building by 9:45AM if you are planning to attend.
