Lois L. Klasky of Plymouth, MA passed away peacefully at the Mass General Brigham Faulkner Hospital in Boston after a brief illness on March 7, 2025.  Lois was the beloved wife of 66 years to the late Melvin P. Klasky.

Lois was born in Manchester, NH on June 9, 1928, daughter of the late Philip Van West and Dinah (Rains) Van West.  She was a graduate of the Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Dorchester, MA and employed for 10 years by Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Boston.  Lois moved to Plymouth, MA in 1954, where she raised her family and worked in the local school system as a Teacher’s Aide, in addition to serving as a secretary at the Jordan Hospital.

Lois enjoyed the opera, theater, travel, old westerns and movies; and in recent years, countless hours of scrabble and bananagram with family and friends.  Most importantly, Lois enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis L. Klasky of NYC/Plymouth, MA; her son, Ronald S. Klasky, daughter-in law, Nhur Klasky of Oviedo, FL; and grandsons, Ian Klasky of Cambridge, MA; and Evan Klasky of Minneapolis, MN; along with many nieces and nephews.  Lois was also the sister of the late Clara M. (Van West) Coffman; Joseph B. Van West; and Elizabeth E. (Van West) Sokolow.

The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 10, at Noon at the Congregation Beth Jacob Synagogue followed by burial at the Vine Hill Cemetery in Plymouth, MA.

Shiva will be observed March 10 from 1:30-4pm and 6:30-8pm; and March 11 and 12 from 2-4pm and 6:30-8pm.  For further information, please contact the family.

    To all of lois’ family, my thoughts & prayers are with you at this sad time and regret being unable to attend all the servicesl. Lois’ family & my family go back along time since arriving in Plymouth in 1973. We had many good times together. I have attended many of her birthday celebrations & her 95th was so very special with her family & friends in attendance.
