Jay Ira Berman, of Stoughton, MA, formerly of Albany, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 20, 2024, at the age of 86. Devoted son of Louis and Rose, beloved husband, caring dad, doting papa, and close friend to many.
Jay was a great listener and genuinely interested in others. He took pride in his work and always put others’ needs ahead of his own. He was kind, incredibly patient, and family was his top priority which brought him great joy. Jay was passionate about music. His love of music, particularly big band and swing started when he was in his high school band playing trombone. This passion continued well past retirement as a member of the Sharon Community Band for 20 years.
Jay was born and raised in Albany, NY, and graduated from Siena College. After college he enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves and completed basic training. After the Army, he started his career in sales which continued until his retirement.
Jay is survived by his wife Bobbie of 57 years, daughter Lauren and her husband Jay Palmer of Medfield, son Danny and his wife Thuy of Holliston, son Kenny of Stoughton, and grandchildren Sammy, Zachy, Zoe, and Rhys.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Schlossberg Family’s Chapel on the Hill, 824 Washington Street, Canton, with the interment to follow at Sharon Memorial Park. Shiva will be held at his late residence, immediately following the burial, and on Tuesday, June 25 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jay’s memory to a charity of your choice.
