Eva Winneg
Our wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Eva Winneg, passed away on February 9th at age 95. Eva was the wife of the late Allan Winneg, and the mother of Stuart (Miriam) Winneg, Robert (Terry) Winneg, and Ken (Karen) Winneg. She was the grandmother of Rachel (Brandt) Wagner, Kaine Winneg, Sarah Winneg, Aliza Winneg, Jonathan Winneg, and Maya Winneg. She was great-grandmother to Colette, Vivienne, and Dashiel. Eva was pre-deceased by her parents, three brothers, and one sister. Eva also had many nieces and nephews.
A tough cookie from Chelsea, MA. Eva grew up with immigrant parents from Eastern Europe who mainly spoke the Yiddish language. Eva spoke fluent Yiddish and instilled strong Jewish values in her sons.
She met the love of her life, Allan, on a blind date. They married and raised three boys in Brockton, MA, but sadly, Allan passed away at age 53, and she was widowed for the rest of her life. But that didn’t stop her from living a great life. She traveled and saw many parts of the US and the world, always looking forward to that next trip.
Eva enjoyed being the manager of the Banana’s Army and Navy Store on Cape Cod, MA., and loved meeting the interesting people and characters who shopped in the store.
It was through her family and friends, though, that she felt most fulfilled. She loved her sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and loving nieces and nephews. She also had a great many friends. We will miss her dearly.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, February 11th, at 1 pm at Schlossberg Family’s Chapel on the Hill, 824 Washington Street, Canton with interment to follow at Agudas Achim Cemetery, 1000 Lancaster Street (off Pearl St.), in Brockton. If you wish to honor Eva’s memory, donations can be made to Hebrew Senior Life or to the charity of your choice.
