Dr. Richard Elliott Trinin Greenberg, 82, of Norton, MA, died peacefully on May 15, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Richard was born August 9, 1939, in New Haven, Connecticut.
He attended Hillel High School in New Haven, where he played with his band the Kingsman Quintet. Richard continued his education at Yale University and graduated in 1961 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. He graduated from Tufts University Medical School in 1965 before doing his residency at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. Richard entered the US Navy and served as medical officer onboard the U.S.S. Topeka. In 1969, he returned to Boston to finish his Orthopedic training. While working at Tufts New England Medical Center he met his wife, Eleanor.
Richard settled in Easton, MA, where he and Eleanor raised their three sons, while he practiced orthopedic medicine at the Brockton, Cardinal Cushing, and Goddard Hospitals.
Richard had a life-long love of learning especially in the fields of math, science, and technology. When not figuring out a math problem, he could be found working on his computer, singing along while he played the piano, or working on a project in his workshop.
He is survived by his wife Eleanor Johnson Greenberg, his sons and their spouses Michael and Dana Greenberg, Kenneth and Robin Greenberg, and Geoffrey Greenberg and Thomas Draime, his granddaughters Kailah and Johnny Greenberg, and his siblings Dr. Robert Greenberg and Dr. Martha Dennis and brother-in-law Dr. Edward Dennis. In addition, he leaves his many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Lilian Greenberg.
A memorial service will be held at Schlossberg Family’s Chapel on the Hill in Canton, MA on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at 11AM.
