Charles L. Goulston (Charlie) passed away at the age of 87 on October 7, 2024, in Weymouth, MA. A native Bostonian, Charlie spent much of his adult life in Maryland before settling back in New England nearly two years ago. Beloved husband of 64 years to Harriet (Nicki), he was a devoted father to Andrea and Beth; adoring grandfather to Zachary, Ella, and Lila; loyal brother-in-law to Janet and her husband Martin Levetin, Roberta Noodell, and Susan Noodell; and cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Sadie, his brother Arthur, and brother-in-law Jason Noodell.
After graduating from Northeastern University where he played clarinet and was student conductor in the college band, Charlie served as First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army. He then worked as an industrial engineer and spent most of his career with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He had a wide range of interests that he shared with family and friends, including his love of music, theater, military parades and band competitions, and enthusiasm for local sports teams. His legacy of integrity, kindness and curiosity will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved him.
A service to honor Charlie’s life will be held on Sunday, October 13, at noon, at Schlossberg Family’s Chapel on the Hill (824 Washington St., Canton, MA) followed by interment at Sharon Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Heart Association.
