Carol Phyllis Friedman Livingston, age 86, passed away on January 16, 2025.
Born on May 21, 1938, in Newark, New Jersey to the late Samuel Aptekar and Sally (Bornstein) Aptekar. Carol was blessed with two wonderful husbands. First to the late Marvin Friedman. Carol and Marvin had two children, Robin (Friedman) Perlman and her husband Andrew, and Steven Friedman and his husband Merrill Davidson, and two grandchildren, Marc Perlman and his fiancée Laura and Scott Perlman and his girlfriend Karisa. She was the sister of the late Grace (Aptekar) Berman. Later in life she married Donald Livingston. While she was married to Don three more children joined Carol’s family: Julie, Arthur, and Michael as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carol began her life living in Millburn, NJ where she graduated High School and moved to Boston, Massachusetts to attend Boston University. She was an accomplished artist. Throughout her career Carol enjoyed teaching art courses and produced fine art works in various mediums. Her pieces were displayed in many juried art shows in NJ, NY, and FL, and received numerous awards.
Carol was talented in many other ways, and she enjoyed sewing, knitting, jewelry making, and playing mahjong. She had a great fashion sense and enjoyed participating in musical shows with her husband, Don, in Florida. She was a lifetime member of Hadassah. She loved to travel the world with both Marvin and Don. Carol and Marvin enjoyed going to Broadway shows as well as New York Giants football games, including several Super Bowl games. They loved spending time with their families and made their homes in Somerset, Martinsville, and Long Branch NJ. It gave them great joy to share their magnificent views from their Martinsville and Long Branch NJ condominium. Don and Carol made their homes in Cranbury, New Jersey, Boynton Beach, and Lantana Florida. Carol’s final home was her residence at Brightview, Canton, MA.
Funeral services for Carol will be held at Schlossberg Family’s Chapel on the Hill, 824 Washington street, Canton on Sunday, January 19th at 12: Noon. The burial will take place later in New Jersey.
