Of Westboro, formerly of Brockton passed away peacefully on February 22nd at the age of 96. Beloved husband of the late Diana Federman, father of Ilyse Gottlieb, and her husband Ross, Suzanne Eagle, and her husband David, and grandfather of Jeremy Gottlieb and his husband Francis, Michael Eagle and his wife Jaclyn and Brandon Eagle. Burt was a decorated WWII veteran, having served as a radio operator from 1942-1946 in the 121st Tank Battalion and earning a Bronze Star for his heroism. After his time as an Army staff sergeant, Burt went on to graduate Suma Cum Laude from Northeastern University and began his career as a CPA. He then went on to start a family, marrying the love of his life, Diana, and raising two loving daughters, Ilyse and Suzanne. Although he was a gifted accountant, Burt’s true passion was comedy. He would endlessly entertain his family members, and never passed up an opportunity to emcee a community event. Burt had a zest for life, always finding a way to make the people around him laugh, right until the very end. There was nothing Burt loved more than his family, often calling his daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren multiple times a day, sometimes just to check in, other times to complain about a Boston sports loss. The family will be holding a private burial. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of America. So that’s it kid…
