Alan Marc Freedman passed away on May 26, 2025, after battling a 2019 cancer diagnosis. He fought this horrific disease with courage and grace in California surrounded by his loving family. An amazing surgeon and a true caregiver, Alan met his challenges head on always putting the wellbeing of his patients and his family first. He would return to his professional duties every time between downfalls of treatment and improvements of his health until it became impossible in 2022. Since this time Alan continued his battle at home gathering his strength until he could participate in his daughter Janna’s high school graduation in 2024. That was his remaining goal after facing the inevitability of fate. He also managed to see his daughter finish her first year at Columbia University.

Alan was the beloved husband of Angelina Greve, father of their daughter Janna Freedman and his son Myles Freedman. Alan grew up in Boston, attended Boston Latin School and Harvard University. Alan moved to Los Angeles for medical school at UCLA where he completed his surgical residency and further training in urology. Alan was a urology surgeon at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, CA where he had a thriving surgical practice.

Alan and his family loved to travel. They took many trips around the world on ocean and river cruises and shared many stories and beautiful photos with our family. Alan’s siblings looked forward to their visits with him in California and the time he spent with us on the holidays.

Alan loved the Boston Sports teams. He enjoyed sharing stories with his brothers about the Bruins, Celtics, Red Sox and Patriots. As a young boy, he and his brother Berton often played baseball in the neighborhood teams.

Alan was predeceased by his loving parents, the late Manuel and Lillian Freedman. Alan is survived by his wife Angelina Greve and their daughter Janna Freedman of Redondo Beach, CA and his son Myles Freedman of Anaheim, CA, his sister Cheryl Freedman Borrelli of Natick, his brothers Berton Freedman of Forest Hills, NY, Neal Freedman and his wife Michelle of No. Easton, his niece Anna Borrelli of W. Natick, his nephew Jonah Borrelli and his wife Veronique, and his nieces Anais and Clara Borrelli of Acton.
