Barry Youman, 75, of Medway, Massachusetts, son of the late Rebecca and Herbert Youman, passed away on October 17, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Barry was the beloved husband of Eileen Youman, with whom he shared 46 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with family, friendship, travel, laughter, and countless memories.
Above all, he was a devoted father to Lisa, Andrew, Gail, and Scott, filling their lives with family adventures, from Scouts and sports to camping, bike rides, ice skating, recitals, and father-daughter dances. He brought humor to everyday life with his dad jokes, his habit of answering “10 minutes” whenever anyone asked how much longer a trip would take, and car rides filled with The Beatles. He was immensely proud of his children and later cherished his role as Pop-Pop and Grandpa.
Barry proudly served in the United States Coast Guard from 1971 to 1975. He later worked at Raytheon for 32 years, building a long and dedicated career. Barry and Eileen shared a love of travel, with Aruba holding a particularly special place in his heart, as well as many happy times at the beaches of Cape Cod and Maine. He loved summers filled with barbecues and lobster, but most of all, he loved simply being surrounded by family and friends.
Barry is survived by his wife of 46 years, Eileen Youman; his daughter Lisa Youman and her husband, Thom Finnarn; his son Andrew Youman and his wife, Lauren; his daughter Gail Cox and her husband, Ralph; and his son Scott Youman and his partner, Lisa Simione. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Shona Youman, Aila Youman, Arabel Finnarn, Ashley Collins, Jessy Penney, Kasie Cox, Scotty Youman, and Ricky Youman; five great-grandchildren; his brother Alvin Youman and his wife, Elaine; and his sister-in-law, Debra Paris.
Those who loved Barry will continue to see his smile, hear his laugh, remember his wisdom, and—whenever a trip seems to be taking a little too long—perhaps hear him say, “10 minutes.”
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 21, at 10:00 a.m. at Schlossberg Family’s Chapel on the Hill, 824 Washington St. Canton, MA. Burial will follow immediately after at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne, MA.
Shiva will be held at the home of Eileen Youman after the burial, approximately 2:30PM, as well as Thursday from 4-8PM.
