Elaine J. Greenburg, age 94, of Framingham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026.
Born on June 16, 1931 in Boston, she was the beloved child of Samuel J. Goldman and Mary Penn. Elaine lived a long and meaningful life marked by devotion to family and resilience through life’s challenges.
She grew up on Capen Street in Dorchester and attended Dorchester High School for Girls and then Boston Clerical School. Throughout her life, she worked as a bookkeeper serving many loyal clients and was respected for her skill, reliability, and professionalism.
As a single parent for much of her life, Elaine raised her two children with strength and independence. She always managed to provide care, comfort, and a sense of normality, even through some of life’s challenges.
In her younger years, she enjoyed ten-pin bowling, Mahjong with friends, volunteering at the elementary school library, and traveling the world. But her greatest joy was simply being with family.
Elaine is survived by her children, Gail Richardson and her partner Howard Sarris of Medway, Massachusetts and Michael Greenburg of Holliston, Massachusetts, her daughter-in-law, Donna Greenburg, of Westborough, Massachusetts, her grandchildren, Michelle Richardson and her partner Nathan Revell, of Franklin, Massachusetts, Kevin Richardson of Fairfield, Connecticut, Corey Greenburg and his wife, Kathryn Greenburg, of Westford, Massachusetts, and Jeffrey Greenburg and his wife, Holly Greenburg, of Boston, Massachusetts, and her five great-grandchildren, Ryan Richardson, Julianne Richardson, Allison Richardson, Nathan Revell, and Callum Greenburg.
Elaine was preceded in death by her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Elinore Chait and Melvin Chait.
The family wishes to thank Primrose, Sophie, Lydia, Jacinthe, Edith, Angellin, and Adriana for their care and support.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Schlossberg Family’s Chapel on the Hill, 824 Washington Street, Canton, Massachusetts with the interment to follow at Prospect Hill Cemmetery, 74 Auburn Road in Millis, MA.
Shiva will be held at the Thayer House, 2B Oak Street, Medway, MA 02053 immediately following the burial through 6PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
