Entered into rest peacefully on April 9, 2026, Helen N. (Sallet) Cohen, age 91, late of Newton. Beloved wife of 65 years to the late Edwin H. Cohen.
Loving mother of Elise and Scott MacLennan and the late Leslie Cohen. Cherished sister of Elaine and Howard Braun and Pauline Bean. Dear sister in law of Arlene Cohen and the late Alan Cohen. Also survived by her much loved nieces and nephews, their spouses and children.
Born in Boston, Helen graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School for Girls and Mount Ida Jr. College. She was a Newton resident for most of her adult life.
Helen loved and valued family, friends and neighbors. Her vocations included 10 years of in-home child care and 20 years as office support at Newton Wellesley Hospital. She appreciated music from the golden age of Broadway and the American Songbook, classic movies, and books from many genres. Retirement hobbies included Mah Jong, Scrabble, knitting and crossword puzzles. Throughout her life, Helen was a welcoming and generous hostess at whose table there was always room for one more.
There will be a graveside service at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham St., Sharon, MA on Tuesday, April 14th at 10:45AM. Please meet behind the building on the cemetery grounds prior to services (suggested, 10:30AM).
