Burt Gerber was born in Dorchester, MA on May 9, 1936, the youngest of three children. He is predeceased by his parents, Martha (Levenson ) Gerber and David Gerber. Burt’s older sister Harriet passed away as did his older brother Jack and his wife, Bette Ann. Burt leaves his son Mark and his wife Patricia of Leicester, MA and his daughter Lori Ann of Framingham, MA. Burt has three grandchildren, Analisa Curren and her husband Sean of Leicester, MA, Michael Gerber and Angelia Gerber and two great-grandchildren, Logan and Gwen. His late brother-in-law was Herbert Winters and he also leaves his sister-in-law Jeanne Noll and many nieces and nephews and his first wife, Barbara Gerber.
Burt spent all of his childhood growing up in Dorchester. During those early years, Burt made many friendships that have endured all of his life. His childhood friends are like brothers and sisters to him and he loved each one very much.
After graduating from Roxbury Memorial High School, Burt joined the Army. After returning home, he married and had two children. He continued his education at night as a mechanical engineer while working for General Electric in Lynn, MA and for Masoneilan in Avon before starting his own business, International Sourcing Associates, an import, export company. He struggled at first, getting the business going all by himself but through lots of hard work, the business succeeded and continued for many years. Burt was an expert in his field and people in the business would call on him for his opinions and advice. During the years, Burt travelled around the world many times on business and when he married his wife Marcia, they travelled to several different Asian countries on business but also on pleasure. He met his wife Marcia at a Jewish singles dance. They talked, danced and before leaving he asked for her phone number. The next day he looked for the number but couldn’t find it. He searched everywhere and luckily, finally, found it. He called her and after a few months of dating, the decided to get married. They moved to Ashland and Burt continued to build his business.
Burt and Marcia lived in Framingham, Ashland and in 2006 moved to Plymouth, to Great Island in the Pinehills. There they made many new and wonderful friends and enjoyed the lifestyle of an active 55 community.

November 22, 2024 at 9:09 pmBurt was one of the most likeable and supportive people I have met working in industry. When I was feeling unwanted between jobs, his voice was always one of confidence and pride. He knew how to restore my sense of self-worth. Thank you, Burt, for your friendship of four decades.
