Harvey Ligols, aged 92, passed away on October 11, 2024, in Kingston, MA. Born on March 20, 1932, Harvey’s journey began in a loving family and expanded through a life rich with personal and professional accomplishments. After serving honorably in the Army from 1952 to 1954, Harvey pursued his education at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, which laid the foundation for his entrepreneurial venture into owning pharmacies in Taunton and Revere, MA. His career also included significant roles at the Post Office in Brockton and later as a pharmacist for Stop and Shop, showcasing his commitment and versatility in his professional life.
Harvey shared a beautiful marriage with Sheila Larkin, with whom he moved to Randolph, MA, where they raised their three sons. The family later relocated to Pembroke, MA, enriching their family bonds and community ties. Harvey is survived by his sons, Brad and wife Lisa, Richard and wife Crystal, and Rodd and wife Cheryl. He was a cherished grandfather to Samantha Francisco and husband Devan, Alexandra Smith and husband Dylan, Jordan, Max, and Nicholas Ligols, and a great-grandfather to Stella and Sofia Francisco. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha and Julius, his brother Nathaniel, and his beloved wife, Sheila Ligols.
An avid gardener and a member of the Hanson Gun Club, Harvey enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and nature. His contributions to his community and the joy he found in his hobbies reflected his multifaceted personality.
A ceremony to honor Harvey’s life will be held at the Temple Beth Shalom of Cambridge (aka Temple Ashkenaz) cemetery, 232 Fuller Street, Everett, MA on Tuesday, October 15th at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The American Cancer Society in memory of Harvey Ligols, honoring his compassionate spirit and lifelong commitment to helping others.
