Robert Gardner Sims, aged 92, passed away on October 6, 2024, in Hingham, MA. Robert, fondly known as Bob, grew up in Brockton and was a devoted husband and a loving father, grandfather, and father-in-law. He leaves behind a family who cherished him deeply: his children, Amy and Peter; daughter-in-law, Maria; and grandson, Connor. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Joe; his sister, Phyllis; and his beloved wife, Ebba.
Bob’s early years included service to his country in the US Army from 1954 to 1956. While stationed in Germany he went on leave to Spain and met the love of his life, Ebba. Following his military service, he took over the family business, Stillman-Sims Tire Co., a role he embraced until his retirement in his 70s. Education played a significant role in Bob’s life, having graduated from Boston University, which laid the foundation for his successful career.
An avid sports enthusiast, Bob’s passion for skiing, hiking, and tennis was evident throughout his life. He taught his children to ski at a young age and enjoyed hiking and skiing adventures around the world with his wife, including memorable trips to Colorado and the European Alps. One of his remarkable achievements was climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro with his wife in his late fifties. Bob was also a committed volunteer, dedicating nearly five decades to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro South as a board member and fundraiser.
A Memorial Service will be held for Bob at Schlossberg Family’s Chapel on the Hill, 824 Washington Street, Canton non Sunday, October 27th at 12:Noon.

October 16, 2024 at 7:14 pmThe Sims family lived next to us on West Elm Terrace in Brockton during late 40s and 50s. Bob always joined us on our big front porch to chat. He was friendly, fun and a great guy. I remember him well and express my condolences to his children.
May he Rest In Peace.
